Qassim Mix for Coffee is a powdered coffee enhancer produced in Saudi Arabia by Aba Al-Khail. It is traditionally used to enrich the flavor, aroma, color, and texture of Saudi Arabic coffee. Its common ingredients include cardamom, saffron, ginger, cloves, barley, and milk powder. Cardamom provides the dominant aroma while saffron contributes a warm fragrance and golden color. Ginger and cloves add mild spiciness and greater complexity to the flavor. Barley and milk powder give the coffee a lighter color and fuller texture. A small quantity of the mixture is added during preparation or placed in the serving pot before the brewed coffee is poured into it. Although primarily intended for Saudi coffee, it can also be used with Turkish or French-style coffee and as a flavoring for certain desserts.
