Acqua Panna is an Italian brand of still natural mineral water originating in Tuscany. The water comes from the Panna Estate near Florence, which encompasses approximately 1,300 hectares of protected natural landscape. The brand takes its name from the historic Villa Panna, once part of an estate owned by Florence’s Medici family. The history of the estate dates back to 1564 when its boundaries were officially established. Commercial bottling began in 1860 after part of the property was converted into a mineral water facility. The water was initially transported to Florence in large glass vessels, while distribution in one-liter bottles began around 1910. Società Panna was founded in 1938, and a reconstructed production plant opened in 1951. In 1957, the company was acquired by the producer of S.Pellegrino, now known as Sanpellegrino. The water originates from precipitation that gradually filters through layers of rock beneath the Tuscan hills. Its underground journey to the source takes an average of 14 years, during which it naturally acquires a balanced mineral composition. It is bottled directly at the source to preserve its natural characteristics. Acqua Panna is distinguished by its mild flavor, smooth texture, and moderate mineralization without pronounced salty or bitter notes. Its neutral sensory profile makes it suitable for serving with food, and the water is widely available in fine dining restaurants around the world. The brand currently operates within Sanpellegrino, which is part of the Nestlé Group.
