Antipodes Water Company is a New Zealand producer of bottled water founded in 2003. The company sources its water from an artesian aquifer in Otakiri, in the Bay of Plenty region of New Zealand’s North Island. The aquifer lies at a depth of 327 meters and consists of silica-rich volcanic rock through which the water is naturally filtered. High underground pressure allows the water to rise naturally to the surface, while its estimated age at the time of bottling ranges from 50 to 300 years. Due to its high level of natural purity, the water undergoes only microfiltration before bottling, without sterilization, chemical treatment, or the addition of other ingredients. It contains approximately 130 milligrams of total dissolved minerals per liter, which contributes to its mild flavor and light, silky texture. Silica forms a significant part of its mineral composition, while the water has a neutral pH of approximately 7 at the source. The company produces both still and sparkling artesian water, with both varieties bottled directly at the source.
