Agios Chronos is a red wine from Avantis Estate, crafted as an elegant blend of Syrah with a small proportion of Viognier, co-fermented to enhance aromatic depth and overall balance. The grapes come from the stony, clay-gravel slopes of Afrati on the island of Evia, where altitude and constant winds contribute to concentration, freshness and a strong sense of terroir.
The wine undergoes extended maceration and then matures for about one year in new French oak barrels, gaining structure, spice notes and a rounded, polished texture. Its aroma is marked by violet, black and red berries, pepper, vanilla and subtle floral nuances derived from Viognier.
On the palate it is full-bodied, velvety and well-balanced, with lively acidity and fine tannins that lead into a long, warm finish. Agios Chronos is a wine of strength and refinement, ideal with roasted meats, game and aged cheeses, and capable of further development through careful cellaring.
