Da Hong Pao Rock Oolong from Bellocq Tea Atelier (No. 69) is an exceptional example of rock oolong from the Wuyi Mountains in Fujian Province, China. Also known as “Big Red Robe,” this tea is one of the most esteemed oolongs due to its pronounced character and mineral profile, referred to as “yan yun” – the rocky essence.

It originates from a small family garden, where it is produced in limited quantities with great respect for traditional processing methods. During preparation, the leaves undergo a complex process: sun-drying, pan-firing, rolling, multiple rounds of roasting, and resting, resulting in a rich and layered flavor.

The aroma is marked by warm notes of toasted bread, malt, and cinnamon, while the taste reveals hints of Tasmanian leatherwood honey and a delicate floral finish. The texture is full, smooth, and balanced, with a persistent mineral background.
