Defora Grk is a white wine produced by the Bire winery in Lumbarda on the island of Korčula, made from the indigenous Grk grape variety that is closely associated with this specific coastal area. The grapes are grown on the characteristic sandy soils of Lumbarda near the sea, a rare terroir in Dalmatia that is particularly well suited for cultivating this variety.
After hand harvesting, the grapes are gently pressed and fermented at controlled temperatures in order to preserve the freshness and varietal expression of the wine. It shows a bright straw-yellow color and a distinctive aromatic profile with notes of citrus, green apple and Mediterranean herbs, often accompanied by subtle mineral nuances.
On the palate the wine is dry and well structured, with lively acidity and a slight saline character influenced by the maritime environment. The finish is clean and persistent, highlighting the crisp and mineral style typical of Grk wines from Lumbarda.
Defora Grk represents a classic expression of this rare Croatian variety and reflects the unique terroir of the Korčula island vineyards.
