Rioja Iraila Garnacha by Bodegas Remírez de Ganuza is a 100% Garnacha sourced from old vineyards in San Vicente de la Sonsierra in Rioja Alta, where altitude and limestone-rich soils contribute to freshness and structure. First produced with the 2020 vintage, it is released in limited quantities, emphasizing careful parcel selection and precision.

The name “Iraila” meaning “September” in Basque, references the harvest period and the wine’s connection to local tradition. Aromatically, it shows vivid red berry notes - wild strawberry and cherry - layered with subtle floral and delicate spice nuances.

On the palate, it is fresh and energetic, with fine-grained tannins and a balanced acidity that supports a clean, persistent finish. Oak influence is measured, allowing the fruit character and terroir expression to remain at the forefront.

Compared to classic Tempranillo-based Rioja wines, Iraila highlights the more perfumed and vibrant profile of Garnacha. The overall style is refined and focused, combining regional identity with a modern, restrained interpretation of the variety.
