Brasserie Duyck is an independent family brewery located in the village of Jenlain in the Nord department of northern France. Félix Duyck established it in 1922 after taking over a small farm brewery. The Duyck family has Flemish brewing roots that predate the opening of the Jenlain facility. The brewery specializes in bière de garde which is a traditional northern French style characterized by a period of maturation after fermentation. Its best-known product is the amber beer Jenlain which was originally described locally as an old beer. In 1949 Félix Duyck and his son Robert began packaging it in reusable champagne bottles sealed with crown caps. This development allowed a beer previously sold mainly within the surrounding area to reach a wider market. The brewery introduced the Jenlain name in 1968 after the village where the beer is made. During the 1970s it became particularly popular among students in nearby Lille. Its growing recognition contributed to renewed interest in the traditional bière de garde category in France. Brasserie Duyck is currently managed by the fifth generation of the founding family. In addition to its original amber beer it produces blonde triple and seasonal varieties. Although its facilities have been modernized the company remains a family-owned and independent brewery closely connected to the village of Jenlain.
