Liefmans Goudenband

4.4 ·

Liefmans Goudenband is one of the most distinctive Belgian beers, known for its characteristic style and long maturation process. This reddish-brown ale is brewed through mixed fermentation and then aged for 4 to 12 months in the brewery’s cellars, where its complex qualities gradually develop.

After aging, the beer is sealed with a champagne-style cork, emphasizing its exclusive and refined character. The aroma features refreshing, slightly tart notes of caramel, apple, rhubarb, and cherry, while the flavor is rounded and complex, with gently caramelized malt, dried fruit, nutty undertones, and a subtle wine-like depth. With an alcohol content of 8%, Goudenband offers a full-bodied richness without overpowering the balance.

It is crafted by blending young and aged beers, using traditional open fermentation and relying on the natural microflora from the region along the River Scheldt in Oudenaarde, which gives it its unique aromatic complexity.
