Alberi in Piano is the only wine produced by Cantina il Passo and represents a pure expression of the Aglianico del Vulture appellation. It is made exclusively from Aglianico grapes grown in the Contrada Alberi in Piano vineyards, on volcanic soils near Barile, on the slopes of Monte Vulture.
The grapes are hand-harvested with strict selection, aiming to preserve the natural structure and ripeness characteristic of this demanding variety. Vinification is restrained and precise, focused on preserving varietal identity and terroir, without aggressive intervention.
Aging takes place under controlled conditions, partly in traditional cellars carved into volcanic tuff, contributing to the wine’s stability and longevity. In the glass, Alberi in Piano shows a deep ruby-red color that gradually evolves toward garnet tones with time.
The aromatic profile is layered, with notes of dark berries, sour cherry, and plum, complemented by pronounced spicy, mineral, and subtly smoky nuances typical of the Vulture area. On the palate, the wine is structured, with firm yet ripe tannins, marked freshness, and a long, persistent finish.
Alberi in Piano is known for its aging potential, gaining additional complexity and elegance over time.
