Carlsberg Sverige is a Swedish company engaged in the production and distribution of beer, soft drinks, cider, and mineral water. It operates as part of the Danish Carlsberg Group, founded by Jacob Christian Jacobsen in Copenhagen in 1847. Carlsberg Sverige was established as a separate company in 2001 through the combination of the Pripps and Falcon brewery operations. Its local heritage is considerably older and encompasses the histories of Pripps Bryggeri, Bryggeriet Falken, and Ramlösa Hälsobrunn. The earliest part of these roots can be traced to a brewery established by Per Hentzig in Stockholm in 1670, which became part of Pripps through subsequent mergers. Bryggeriet Falken was founded by John Leonard Appelgren in Falkenberg in 1896. Carlsberg Group acquired the Falcon brewery in 1996, while its combination with Pripps five years later led to the establishment of Carlsberg Sverige. The company is headquartered in Solna within the greater Stockholm area. Beer, cider, and carbonated soft drinks are produced at the brewery in Falkenberg, while Ramlösa mineral water is bottled at its historic spring in Helsingborg. Carlsberg Sverige is now one of the largest industrial beverage companies in Sweden, combining the local heritage of its predecessors with the international operations of Carlsberg Group.
