Vinha do Contador Grande Júri is a premium red wine produced by Casa de Santar in Portugal’s Dão wine region, made from grapes sourced from the carefully selected Vinha do Contador vineyard. This wine was created as a special selection that represents the estate’s best vintages and highlights the potential of this historic terroir.

It is typically produced from indigenous Portuguese grape varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro, and Tinta Roriz, which contribute structure, aromatic depth, and balance. The vineyards are planted on granite soils at relatively high elevations, a defining characteristic of the Dão region that gives the wine freshness and a subtle mineral character.

Aromatically, the wine displays notes of dark berries, plum, spices, and delicate balsamic nuances. On the palate it is concentrated yet elegant, with ripe tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, layered finish.

After fermentation, the wine is aged in oak barrels to develop additional complexity and structure. Vinha do Contador Grande Júri represents one of the more prestigious wines from Casa de Santar and reflects the refined and structured style typical of top red wines from the Dão region.
