Les Clans Rosé is one of the most ambitious wines from Château d’Esclans, representing a premium Provençal style that moves far beyond the classic, lightweight rosé profile. It is made from older vines, often 50-80 years of age, which contribute to the wine’s concentration and complexity.
The grapes are hand-harvested in the early morning and selected through a precise optical sorting system to ensure that only the finest fruit is used. Fermentation and aging take place in large 600-liter demi-muid oak barrels for about 10–11 months, with regular lees stirring, giving the wine a texture and depth more reminiscent of a serious white Burgundy than a typical rosé.
The aromatic profile offers subtle notes of peach, red berries, citrus and gentle spice, complemented by delicate hints of oak. On the palate, it is full-bodied, creamy and mineral, with a long, precise finish.
The alcohol level, around 14%, is well integrated into its structure. Les Clans is a rosé capable of aging and developing further complexity, and its gastronomic versatility makes it an excellent match for fish, shellfish, white meats and dishes with creamy sauces.
It is a wine that demonstrates the potential of Provence to produce rosés of remarkable depth, elegance and longevity.
