Chen Sheng Lao Ban Zhang 2024 is a Chinese raw pu-erh tea (sheng) from Chen Sheng Hao, originating in Lao Ban Zhang village on Bulang Mountain in Yunnan Province. It belongs to a series introduced in 2008, following the establishment of a long-term partnership between the producer and local growers.
It is made from selected leaves of large-leaf tea trees that, according to the brand, are more than 300 years old. The leaves come exclusively from Lao Ban Zhang’s tea gardens, with traditional processing involving hand-picking and sun-drying.
It produces a clear, golden-yellow liquor with a powerful, full-bodied flavour, in which initial bitterness and slight astringency give way to a lingering returning sweetness. Its aromatic profile combines woody tones with notes of honey and orchid, accompanied by a persistent finish and a pronounced sensation in the throat, known as hou yun. Brewing through multiple short infusions is recommended, allowing its aromas and flavours to unfold gradually.
