Clos Triguedina Probus is the estate’s flagship cuvée, made from 100% Malbec sourced from old vines, some over a century in age, planted on the higher terraces of the Lot Valley. First produced in 1976, it was named in honor of the Roman emperor Probus, who is credited with reintroducing viticulture to the region.

The wine is aged in oak barrels, often with a proportion of new wood, which contributes to its depth, structure, and aging capacity. Aromatically, it is intense and layered, with dominant notes of blackberry, plum, and black cherry, complemented by nuances of spice, licorice, cocoa, and subtle earthy tones.

On the palate, it is full-bodied and concentrated, with a dense texture and firm yet polished tannins that provide both power and balance. A mineral backbone, typical of Cahors, supports the wine’s richness and adds precision.

With time in bottle, additional complexity develops, including hints of truffle, graphite, and forest floor, while the oak becomes more integrated. Probus is built for long-term aging, often evolving over 10 to 15 years or more, gaining finesse and harmony.

It stands as a benchmark expression of Cahors Malbec, combining intensity, terroir character, and a refined, structured style.
