Cognac Thorin XO is a mature expression from the family-run house Cognac Thorin, crafted exclusively from eaux-de-vie grown in the Grande Champagne 1er Cru. It is aged for a minimum of ten years in Limousin oak casks, allowing the spirit to develop depth, balance, and aromatic complexity characteristic of this top cognac terroir.
On the nose, it reveals layered aromas of dried plum, ripe apricot, brioche, and vanilla, complemented by subtle floral and gentle spice notes. The palate is rich yet refined, with flavors of baked pear, caramel, honey, and light toasted oak, carried by a smooth, well-integrated structure.
The texture is rounded and elegant, without heaviness, reflecting long and patient ageing. The finish is long and harmonious, with lingering fruit and warm oak tones.
Thorin XO embodies the house style of finesse and precision, offering a classic, terroir-driven Grande Champagne cognac suited for contemplative sipping.
Producer
Cognac Thorin is a family-run cognac house based in Segonzac, at the heart of the Grande Champagne 1er Cru, the most prestigious growing area of the Cognac region. Established in the mid-20th century and now led by Claude Thorin, the estate combines traditional vineyard management with precise distillation and long ageing in Limousin oak casks.
All production is based on estate-grown grapes from more than 100 hectares of vineyards, allowing full control over quality and a clear expression of terroir in every cognac. The range includes classic categories such as VS, VSOP, Napoleon and XO, alongside rare and limited bottlings, including expressions made from less common grape varieties such as Folle Blanche.
The house style is defined by elegance and balance, with floral, fruity and gently spiced aromas supported by depth and structure. Older expressions, particularly the XO, have received international recognition for their finesse and ageing potential.
In addition to cognac, the estate also produces Pineau des Charentes, continuing a long-standing family tradition rooted in authenticity and craftsmanship.
