Etna Rosso Riserva Contrada Zottorinoto from Cottanera is a single-contrada wine that represents one of the most serious and age-worthy expressions of Nerello Mascalese on the northern slopes of Mount Etna. The grapes come from old vines planted in Contrada Zottorinoto, on highly mineral volcanic soils and at elevated altitudes that encourage slow, even ripening and preserve freshness.

Vinification includes extended maceration, followed by long aging in French oak and additional bottle maturation, allowing the wine to develop depth without losing precision. Aromatically, it reveals sour cherry, wild red berries, dried rose, and Mediterranean herbs, layered with subtle notes of spice, tea leaves, and volcanic earth.

On the palate, it is structured yet restrained, with finely grained tannins, vibrant acidity, and a pronounced mineral-saline tension that defines the style. The finish is long, savory, and slightly balsamic, reflecting both the vineyard origin and the restrained cellar approach.

This Riserva is built for long aging and clearly favors elegance and terroir expression over power, positioning it as one of Cottanera’s most distinctive and site-driven wines.
