Coussin de Lyon is the signature confection of Chocolat Voisin and one of Lyon’s most iconic gastronomic specialties. Created by the Lyon chocolatier in the 1960s, this distinctive confection was inspired by a historical tradition dating back to 1643, when Lyon’s civic leaders offered a silk cushion bearing a gold coin and candle during a religious procession held in response to the plague.

Voisin transformed this local symbol into an elegant gourmet creation that has since become closely associated with the city itself. The confection consists of a smooth chocolate ganache delicately encased in a thin layer of candied marzipan, traditionally finished in a soft green color with a darker decorative stripe and subtly flavored with curaçao.

Its patented recipe requires several days of production, reflecting the brand’s artisanal approach and attention to detail.
