The product is made at the Sant Bertomeu Agricultural Cooperative’s facility in Atzeneta del Maestrat in Castellón Province. The almonds are grown on farms operated by the cooperative’s members. After preparation, they are seasoned with salt and roasted to develop a firmer and crunchier texture. Roasting also intensifies their natural nutty aroma and mild sweetness. Marcona almonds are distinguished by their rounded shape and somewhat softer texture compared with most elongated almond varieties.
