Péché Mortel is one of the most renowned and highly regarded beers from Canadian craft brewery Dieu du Ciel!, and has earned a cult following among fans of strong, complex stouts. This is an imperial stout brewed with coffee, known for its rich and intense aromas of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, caramel, and subtle spicy notes.

It is made by adding freshly roasted coffee during the fermentation process, which deepens the flavor profile and gives the beer a pronounced, almost oily character. With an alcohol content of around 9.5% ABV, the alcohol is seamlessly integrated into the beer’s bold, full body.

The texture is thick and smooth, with a persistent head and a long, warming finish. Péché Mortel perfectly balances the sweetness of the malt, the bitterness of the coffee, and delicate fruity undertones, leaving a lasting impression even on seasoned beer drinkers.

It is available in its regular version, as well as in special barrel-aged editions matured in whiskey or rum barrels, which add further layers of complexity. It pairs beautifully with chocolate desserts or blue-veined cheeses.
