Divan Pastaneleri is a Turkish confectionery chain whose development began in 1956 within the Divan Hotel in Istanbul’s Elmadağ district. The hotel was founded by Turkish businessman Vehbi Koç as one of the earliest projects of the future Divan Group. Swiss pastry chef Kundert was hired to prepare cakes, chocolates and other desserts for the hotel. His products became sufficiently popular for their sale to gradually expand beyond the hotel business and develop into a separate confectionery chain. The first independent shop opened in Elmadağ while the second was established in Istanbul’s Erenköy district in 1964. This was followed by locations in Bebek in 1974, Moda in 1981 and Sütlüce in 1984. The company’s first shop outside Istanbul opened in Ankara in 1987. Its assortment includes cakes, pastries, chocolates, Turkish delight, macarons, biscuits, savory pastries and various gift boxes. Production gradually expanded from a small hotel department into an organized system supplying the company’s shops, retail partners and online store. Today the company operates within the Divan Group associated with the Koç family and combines confectionery production with a chain of hospitality establishments.
