Muntada Côtes Catalanes is the flagship red wine of Domaine Gauby, produced from very old vines of Grenache, Carignan, and occasionally Syrah planted on the limestone- and schist-rich slopes surrounding the village of Calce. Yields are extremely low, and the grapes are hand-harvested, often fermented as whole clusters with spontaneous fermentation and minimal added sulphur, allowing the terroir to remain at the forefront.

The aroma weaves together dark berry fruit, herbal notes of thyme and rosemary, subtle smokiness, and a marked stony minerality. On the palate, the wine is both powerful and elegant - its tannins are fine and silky, the structure deep yet never heavy, and the finish long, clean, and delicately saline.

Thanks to biodynamic vineyard practices and careful, low-intervention vinification, Muntada achieves a rare balance between southern richness and vibrant freshness. It benefits from decanting and slightly cooler service temperatures for red wine, and it can age for more than a decade, developing further layers of spice, graphite, and nuanced herbal complexity.
