Eska is a Canadian producer of bottled spring water headquartered in Laval, Quebec. The brand was introduced in 2005, although commercial exploitation of the source began several years earlier. Its water comes from the Saint-Mathieu–Lac-Berry esker in the Abitibi–Témiscamingue region of northwestern Quebec. An esker is an elongated geological formation composed of layers of sand, gravel, and pebbles deposited by glacial meltwater. This formation developed approximately 9,000 years ago and extends for around 125 kilometers across the region. Rainfall and melted snow seep into the ground and undergo natural filtration through glacial sediments for at least 15 years. The source lies within approximately 2,000 hectares of forest, away from major urban and industrial areas. The water is drawn and bottled at a facility located directly beside the source in the municipality of Saint-Mathieu-d’Harricana. According to the producer, it is not distilled, demineralized, or chemically treated, and no chlorine, fluoride, or ozone is added. It has a low mineral content of approximately 85 milligrams of dissolved solids per liter and a mildly alkaline pH of around 7.8. Eska produces still and sparkling spring water, including sparkling varieties with added natural flavors.
