Established Juanicó

Preludio Barrel Select Tinto

4.4 ·

Preludio Barrel Select Tinto is the flagship wine of Establecimiento Juanicó, produced under the Familia Deicas label and recognized as one of Uruguay’s benchmark long-aging wines. First released in 1992, it is a Bordeaux-inspired blend typically composed of Tannat, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, sourced from low-yield vineyard parcels.

The winemaking process is defined by a rigorous barrel selection system, where only the best lots are retained over several years of aging in French oak, with periodic evaluations refining the final blend. Aromatically, it reveals layers of ripe red and dark fruit, dried fig, and plum, supported by notes of vanilla, spice, and toasted oak.

On the palate, it is full-bodied and concentrated, with refined tannins and balanced acidity that carry its depth and richness. The texture is structured yet polished, allowing both power and elegance to coexist.

The finish is long and complex, often developing nuances of dark chocolate, spice, and the characteristic depth associated with Tannat. Rather than emphasizing extraction alone, the wine focuses on balance and integration over time.

It is designed for extended aging, during which it continues to gain complexity and harmony. Preludio Barrel Select Tinto stands as one of the most representative expressions of premium Uruguayan winemaking.
