Stagnum Desertni is a sweet dessert wine produced by Frano Miloš Winery on the Pelješac Peninsula in southern Dalmatia, Croatia, made from the indigenous red grape variety Plavac Mali. The grapes come from steep hillside vineyards where most of the work is done manually, and the wine is produced only in selected vintages.
Part of the harvested grapes is partially dried after picking, which increases the concentration of sugars and aromatic compounds in the fruit. The wine displays a deep garnet-red color and an intense aromatic profile.
Aromas and flavors typically reveal notes of dried plum, dark berries, figs, and spices, often accompanied by hints of chocolate and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, the wine is rich, concentrated, and sweet, yet balanced by lively acidity that prevents it from feeling heavy.
The alcohol level is usually around 16%, contributing to the wine’s structure and long, persistent finish. Stagnum Desertni represents a rare and concentrated interpretation of the Plavac Mali variety, intended to be enjoyed slowly alongside desserts, dark chocolate, or aged cheeses.
