Dürnsteiner Kellerberg Riesling Smaragd from F. X.
Pichler is a pure expression of one of Wachau’s most prestigious vineyard sites. The Kellerberg terraces rise steeply above the Danube, with soils dominated by gneiss and quartz that give the wine marked minerality and precision.
The designation Smaragd represents the highest quality level in the Wachau system and refers to dry wines with high concentration, structure, and long aging potential. The grapes are harvested entirely by hand, with strict selection carried out directly in the vineyard to ensure only perfectly ripe fruit is used.
Aromatically, the wine shows layers of white and yellow peach, ripe citrus, and subtle herbal notes, supported by underlying stony mineral nuances. On the palate, it is focused, linear, and elegant, driven by vibrant acidity that gives tension and energy.
The texture is firm and tightly woven, leading to a long finish with pronounced mineral salinity. This Riesling benefits greatly from bottle aging, developing added complexity over time, including honeyed and dried herbal tones.
