The Original Seashells are Belgian praline chocolates shaped like seashells and seahorses, made by Guylian in Sint-Niklaas. Introduced in 1967, they were inspired by founders Guy Foubert and his wife Liliane’s holiday on the Belgian coast and are recognised for their marbled appearance in white, milk, and dark chocolate.

They combine a chocolate shell with a creamy hazelnut praliné filling. Guylian uses Fairtrade cocoa from West Africa and carefully selected Mediterranean hazelnuts, which are roasted in-house in copper kettles. The filling follows Guy Foubert’s original recipe, with the roasting process giving it a distinctive, pronounced nutty aroma.

They are characterised by smooth chocolate, a creamy filling, and a rich roasted hazelnut flavour. White, milk, and dark chocolate contribute a combination of milky sweetness and cocoa notes. They can be served with coffee, enjoyed as a small after-dinner dessert, or given as a chocolate gift.
