Beers

Arthur by Hill Farmstead Brewery is an American farmhouse ale inspired by the Belgian saison tradition. It belongs to the brewery’s Ancestral Series, whose beers are named after members of founder Shaun Hill’s family. The beer was named after Arthur Hill, who lived from 1922 to 2005 and was the youngest brother of Shaun’s grandfather Edward. Arthur grew up with his thirteen siblings on the land in Greensboro, Vermont where the brewery now operates. The beer is made from American malted barley, American and European hops, water drawn from the brewery’s well and Hill Farmstead’s distinctive farmhouse yeast. Fermentation with this yeast contributes fruity, citrus, herbal and mildly spicy notes. Arthur is unfiltered and naturally carbonated, giving it a slightly hazy appearance and lively texture. It contains 6 percent alcohol by volume. Its profile is dry and refreshing with pronounced acidity and subtle earthy nuances characteristic of farmhouse ales. Arthur is regarded as one of Hill Farmstead’s signature beers and a notable American interpretation of the traditional saison style.
