Himalayan is an Indian natural mineral water brand owned by Tata Consumer Products. The brand was originally developed by Mount Everest Mineral Water, a company established in 1991. Tata Tea took management control of the company in 2007, after which Himalayan was gradually incorporated into the Tata Group’s broader portfolio. The water comes from an underground aquifer in the foothills of the Shivalik Range, which forms part of the Himalayas. Its only bottling facility is located in Dhaula Kuan near the town of Paonta Sahib in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The facility was built directly above the source so that the water could be bottled at its place of origin. According to the producer, its natural cycle begins with glacial meltwater in the upper reaches of the Himalayas. The water then spends approximately 20 years passing through layers of rock, sand, and silt that act as a natural geological filter. During this journey, it gradually acquires minerals and collects in a confined aquifer protected by impermeable layers of clay. It is drawn from a depth of approximately 120 meters and transferred directly to the bottling line. Himalayan is regarded as India’s first natural mineral water brand and is positioned within the premium market segment. In addition to India, the brand is distributed in selected international markets, including the United Kingdom and the United States.
