Janson Coffee

Geisha Natural

n/a ·

Geisha Natural is a Panamanian specialty coffee made from the Geisha variety by Janson Coffee, a family-owned producer based in Volcán, Chiriquí Province. The family’s coffee grows on the slopes of the Tisingal and Barú volcanoes at elevations of 1,350 to 1,700 meters.

The term Natural refers to dry processing. The coffee cherries are dried whole, and the beans are separated from the dried fruit afterward. Janson processes the coffee at its own mill, where it separates lots by origin and quality and sorts the Geisha beans by hand.

Janson’s naturally processed Geisha coffees are characterized by fruit sweetness and floral aromas, with tasting notes that vary by lot. Los Alpes Lot 446, for example, has notes of melon, mandarin, kiwi, and jasmine. A paper-filter pour-over such as the V60 can highlight the coffee’s fruit and floral character.
