Kapcsándy Family Winery is a boutique, estate-focused producer located in Yountville in the heart of Napa Valley, centered around the historic State Lane Vineyard. Founded in the early 2000s by Lou Kapcsándy, the estate was developed with a clear vision of producing wines inspired by Bordeaux while fully expressing Napa Valley terroir.
The vineyard spans approximately 20 acres and is entirely estate-grown, planted mainly with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, carefully divided into small blocks to enhance precision and site expression. Winemaking emphasizes meticulous selection, small-lot fermentations, and aging in French oak barrels, aiming for structure, balance, and long-term aging potential.
The wines are typically rich and layered, showing dark fruit such as blackcurrant and blackberry, alongside notes of graphite, spice, and subtle floral nuances. On the palate, they are full-bodied and structured, with polished tannins and a refined texture that avoids excessive heaviness.
Despite their concentration, they maintain clarity and balance, reflecting both vineyard discipline and controlled vinification. Production remains limited, reinforcing a focus on quality and detail rather than scale.
Over time, the winery has gained recognition as a “cult” Napa producer, known for wines that combine power, precision, and longevity.
