Producer

Kikusui Shuzō is a Japanese sake brewery founded in 1881 in Shibata, Niigata Prefecture. The founding Takasawa family continues to run the business, whose range includes sake for everyday enjoyment, unpasteurized releases, and premium products.

The brewery was established by Setsugorō Takasawa, who acquired the right to produce sake from his uncle at just sixteen years old. Beyond brewing, the company explores sake history and culture through the Kikusui Institute for Sake Culture, including traditional serving vessels and historical documents. This connects product development with the preservation of knowledge about how sake is made, served, and enjoyed.

Kikusui has a strong presence in the Japanese market and also operates through its American subsidiary, Kikusui Sake USA. Its future development focuses on high-quality, accessible products that respond to changing consumer habits and introduce new ways to enjoy sake while preserving its family tradition.
