Kolonáda Tradiční Lázeňské Oplatky are one of the most recognizable traditional Czech sweet specialties, closely associated with the spa culture of towns such as Mariánské Lázně and Karlovy Vary. These are thin, crisp round wafers with a characteristic sweet filling traditionally based on a blend of hazelnuts, sugar, and cinnamon, although modern variations include flavors such as chocolate and vanilla.

Their origins trace back to 1856, when spa wafer production began in Mariánské Lázně, while the Kolonáda name as a factory brand was adopted in 1974 during the modernization of production. The product was conceived as both a light confection and a gastronomic souvenir reflecting the atmosphere of Czech spa promenades.

Their texture is delicate and brittle, while the flavor balances gentle sweetness with nutty notes and warm spice. Unlike heavily filled industrial wafer products, Kolonáda remains rooted in a simpler and more traditional flavor profile.

The large round format makes them visually distinctive from conventional wafers and biscuits. In the Czech Republic, they are commonly purchased as gifts or enjoyed as an authentic local sweet alongside coffee or tea.
