Chestnut Honey is a Greek chestnut honey from Koutlis Honey, a producer based on the island of Thassos. Chestnut trees grow in Greece’s mountain forests, and this honey comes from their flower nectar and honeydew associated with the trees. As a result, it has characteristics of both blossom and honeydew honey.
It has an intense aroma and a strong flavour with a slightly bitter, lingering finish. Its relatively high fructose and low glucose content mean it crystallises slowly and may remain liquid for one to two years. Its distinctive taste makes it well suited to those who prefer honey with less pronounced sweetness.
