Lord Stow's Bakery is a bakery in Macau founded in 1989 in the village of Coloane by Englishman Andrew Stow, with the aim of offering the local community artisan European-style baked goods of high quality. Although trained as a pharmacist, Stow developed a strong passion for baking and gastronomy, and during a trip to Portugal he was inspired by the traditional pastel de nata. Based on the Portuguese original, he created his own recipe for a Portuguese egg tart, combining the flaky pastry typical of the Portuguese tradition with a rich custard filling inspired by the English custard tart. This interpretation became known as the Macau egg tart and gradually evolved into one of Macau's most iconic culinary specialties. Following Andrew Stow's passing in 2006, the family tradition continued under the leadership of his daughter Audrey Stow and his sister Eileen Stow, who have continued to develop the brand while preserving the authenticity of its products and the philosophy on which the bakery was founded.
