The family tradition began in 1949 when Mahmoud Maatouk established a coffee business in Beirut. The first Maatouk Maison du Café location opened in central Beirut in 1960. His daughter Samira Maatouk expanded the business into the United Arab Emirates by opening a branch in Abu Dhabi. After the founder’s death, Samira Maatouk and her brother took over the family business and expanded its production capacity in Lebanon and the UAE.
