Hijaz Samra Honey is a traditional Saudi monofloral honey produced by Manahil Althawabi and originating from the Hejaz region of western Saudi Arabia. It is made from the nectar of samra blossoms (Acacia tortilis, also known as Vachellia tortilis), a hardy desert tree that grows in dry valleys and along the slopes of the Sarawat Mountains.

The samra tree flowers for a brief period, generally from early May to early June. During the flowering season, hives are placed near wild-growing trees so that the bees primarily collect their nectar. Manahil Althawabi offers the resulting honey in its natural form, without additional ingredients, as a product of its own apiaries. Its character directly reflects the hot, arid environment of the Hejaz and the plant’s limited nectar season.

Hijaz Samra Honey has a dark amber to deep brown color, a dense consistency, and a pronounced aroma. Its flavor is more robust and less straightforwardly sweet than that of lighter honeys, with warm, subtly sharp, earthy, and caramel-like nuances followed by a lingering finish.
