Maruyama Nori

Shodai Hikobei Saga no Hashiri

4.5 ·

Shodai Hikobei Saga no Hashiri is roasted nori produced by Maruyama Nori of Tokyo, made from seaweed harvested in the Ariake Sea, in Saga Prefecture. It belongs to the yaki nori category of roasted edible seaweed sheets, while the name Shodai Hikobei honors the company’s founder and his dedication to quality.

The seaweed is selected from areas where nutrient-rich river water mingles with seawater. The selected sheets are slowly roasted at a low temperature to bring out their natural flavor, aroma, and fine texture. Careful selection of the raw material and controlled processing are defining features of this product.

It is characterized by a refined marine aroma, a glossy dark color, and a delicate, crisp texture that breaks easily when bitten and gently melts in the mouth, releasing its natural sweetness. It can be used for sushi and temaki hand rolls, or served alongside warm rice, which allows its flavor to shine.
