Baladi Sumra Honey is a traditional Saudi honey produced by Mnahil Bin Mesfer and harvested in the wild mountainous areas around Bisha in southern Saudi Arabia. The term baladi indicates a locally sourced, traditional product, while sumra refers to the samra tree (Acacia tortilis, also known as Vachellia tortilis), a thorny desert tree with a distinctive umbrella-shaped canopy that thrives in the arid valleys and rocky terrain of the Arabian Peninsula.

The honey is produced during the samra tree’s brief flowering season, when its small, pale blossoms emerge on wild trees around Bisha. Its bold character directly reflects this resilient desert source. It is a dark acacia honey and differs considerably from the pale European “acacia honey”, which comes from Robinia pseudoacacia. Mnahil Bin Mesfer offers it as pure honey without additional ingredients, retaining its naturally dense consistency.

Baladi Sumra Honey has a deep dark-brown color that can appear almost black, a thick texture, and a pronounced aroma. Its flavor is intense and concentrated, combining full-bodied sweetness with warm, subtly earthy nuances and a lingering finish. It is best enjoyed on its own or with simple accompaniments such as warm bread, tahini, mild cheeses, and nuts. It can also be used to sweeten tea, milk, and traditional Arabian desserts.
