Mountain Valley Spring Water is an American spring water producer originating from the Ouachita Mountains in the state of Arkansas. The brand’s history began in 1871 when pharmacist Peter Greene and his brother John purchased a spring previously known as Lockett’s Spring. The brothers named the water Mountain Valley after a nearby community and began distributing it beyond the local area. The Mountain Valley Water Company was officially established in 1883. The water comes from a protected natural spring near the city of Hot Springs and is bottled in the immediate vicinity of its source. As it passes through underground layers it naturally acquires minerals that shape its composition and mildly alkaline character. The brand produces still and sparkling spring water as well as several naturally flavored sparkling varieties. It is particularly recognizable for its green glass bottles which have been used since the beginning of production. The brand is currently part of the American company Primo Brands which manages its production and distribution.
