Groenlandberg Chardonnay from Oak Valley Estate is a refined cool-climate expression sourced from high-altitude vineyards on the slopes of the Groenlandberg mountain range in Elgin. Planted on clay-rich Bokkeveld shale soils, the vines benefit from slow ripening conditions influenced by ocean breezes and frequent cloud cover, which help preserve natural acidity and aromatic precision.

Made from 100% Chardonnay, the wine combines fruit purity with subtle oak influence, typically matured in French oak to enhance texture without overshadowing the varietal character. Aromatically, it shows notes of citrus, green apple, and stone fruit, alongside hints of mandarin and delicate floral nuances.

On the palate, it is structured yet vibrant, with flavors of yellow peach, orange zest, and a pronounced mineral backbone. The texture is layered and slightly creamy, balanced by bright acidity that gives energy and length.

The finish is long, focused, and elegant, reflecting both the altitude and the distinct terroir of Elgin.
