Otronia III & VI is a flagship Chardonnay from the extreme cool-climate vineyards of Sarmiento in Patagonian Argentina, sourced from the estate’s Blocks III and VI. Made from 100% Chardonnay grown under harsh, windy conditions at the 45th parallel south, the wine reflects very slow ripening and exceptionally high natural acidity.
Winemaking is precise and restrained, with direct pressing and extended aging of approximately 18-20 months in large French oak foudres, allowing texture to develop without overt oak influence. Aromatically, it shows citrus peel, pear, and white stone fruit, complemented by subtle floral and herbal nuances and a pronounced mineral backbone.
On the palate, the wine is taut and linear, driven by vibrant acidity, saline tension, and a long, focused finish. The style prioritizes energy, clarity, and site expression over richness or weight.
III & VI is widely regarded as one of the benchmark Chardonnays of Patagonia, clearly demonstrating the potential of extreme southern latitudes for refined, terroir-driven white wines.
