Pelit is a Turkish company specializing in the production of chocolate, cakes, and other confectionery products. It was founded in Istanbul in 1957. Its founder, Kazım Ayan, had previously worked in the confectionery industry for 19 years before starting the business with three associates. They included pastry chefs Manol Usta and Mois Usta, as well as Ahmet Arabacı. The first shop was opened in the Tepebaşı area and served as the foundation for the company’s subsequent expansion. Over the following decades, Pelit developed a network of pastry shops and retail outlets located primarily throughout Istanbul. Production now takes place at the company’s large complex in Istanbul’s Esenyurt district. The complex also houses Pelit Çikolata Muse, the first chocolate museum of its kind in Turkey.
