Plakias Premium Organic EVOO is an organic extra virgin olive oil produced from the Koroneiki variety, typical of southern Crete and known for delivering consistent quality and a distinct aromatic profile. The olives are sourced from certified organic groves, where cultivation is carried out without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides, with an emphasis on maintaining soil balance and natural growing conditions.

Harvesting is conducted carefully, and the olives are transported directly to the mill and processed on the same day using cold extraction, helping preserve the oil’s natural composition and nutritional value. Production takes place under controlled conditions in modern facilities, with certifications such as ISO 22000 and organic standards ensuring compliance with food safety and quality requirements.

The oil is characterized by very low acidity, often below 0.3, along with stable chemical parameters that position it in a higher quality segment of extra virgin olive oils. In sensory terms, it presents a fresh and fruity profile with notes of green olive and mild bitterness, typical of organically produced Koroneiki oils.

After extraction, the oil is stored in specialized tanks under controlled conditions to prevent oxidation, while bottling is carried out in hygienic environments, typically using dark glass to protect the product from light exposure.

Producer

Plakias is a family-run producer based in the village of Mariou in the Rethymno region of southern Crete, where production takes place close to the olive groves that supply the raw material. The company builds on a multi-generational tradition of olive cultivation and oil production, maintaining a direct connection between farming and processing.

Its core product is extra virgin olive oil made primarily from the Koroneiki variety, which is well suited to the local conditions and known for producing oils with consistent quality and aromatic intensity. The olives are grown in the wider area of southern Rethymno, where the combination of Mediterranean climate, elevation, and proximity to the sea contributes to the oil’s freshness and character.

Processing and standardization are carried out in modern facilities under controlled conditions to preserve low acidity and maintain chemical stability. The bottling unit operates in accordance with international food safety standards, including ISO 22000 certification.

The product range includes both conventional and organic extra virgin olive oils, available in different packaging formats such as glass bottles and metal tins. In sensory terms, the oils typically show a balanced profile with fresh, fruity notes and a mild peppery finish, consistent with Koroneiki-based oils from Crete.
