Bicho da Seda Tinto is a premium red wine from Quinta dos Castelares, crafted from grapes sourced from very old vineyards aged 65-70 years, planted on schist soils in the high-altitude zones of Douro Superior at 500-600 meters. The blend originates from traditional field-blend plantings, while vinification includes manual harvesting, full destemming, cold pre-fermentation maceration and fermentation in stainless-steel lagares.

The wine then ages for 24 months in new French oak barrels, which enhances its depth and structure. Its aromatic profile combines ripe red fruit, refined spice notes, bergamot and subtle Mediterranean herbal tones, supported by delicate oak.

On the palate it is full, layered and elegant, with pronounced yet well-integrated tannins, lively acidity and a long finish that signals strong aging potential. Bicho da Seda Tinto showcases the depth and authenticity of the Douro Superior terroir and is intended for enthusiasts who appreciate concentration, complexity and long-lived red wines.
