Grk is a white wine produced by Black Island Winery on the island of Korčula and crafted by winemaker Igor Radovanović from the indigenous Croatian grape variety Grk. The grapes are grown in coastal vineyards exposed to strong Mediterranean sunlight and the cooling influence of the Adriatic Sea, conditions that contribute to the distinctive character of this rare Dalmatian variety.

Grk is unusual because the vine has only female flowers, which means it must be planted alongside other grape varieties, most commonly Plavac Mali, to enable natural pollination. In the glass the wine typically shows a bright golden-yellow color with lively clarity.

The aromatic profile reveals notes of citrus, ripe peach and nectarine, often accompanied by subtle herbal and saline nuances influenced by the island’s maritime climate. On the palate the wine is dry and structured, supported by refreshing acidity and a pronounced mineral character derived from Korčula’s sandy and limestone soils.

A delicate almond-like bitterness may appear on the finish, which is considered a typical trait of the Grk variety. Through this wine, Igor Radovanović presents a precise and contemporary interpretation of one of the most distinctive white grape varieties of southern Dalmatia.
