Rockland Distilleries is a family-owned Sri Lankan spirits producer founded by J. B. M. Pereira on the Rockland family estate in 1924 and currently headquartered in Colombo. Now managed by the fourth generation, the company is regarded as a pioneer of the commercial production of high-quality Ceylon arrack. Its signature Ceylon Arrack is distilled from the naturally fermented sap of coconut-palm flowers, traditionally collected by skilled toddy tappers, and matured in casks made from native halmilla wood. This distinctive process produces a smooth and aromatic spirit with floral, fruity and subtly woody notes, accompanied by nuances of coconut and honey. Alongside arrack brands such as Double Distilled, Old Arrack and Governor’s Choice, Rockland produces rum, whisky, brandy, vodka and the Colombo range of gins. Colombo No.7 draws on a recipe developed during the Second World War and combines juniper with characteristic Sri Lankan botanicals, including cinnamon, curry leaves and ginger. Rockland is currently one of Sri Lanka’s largest and most technologically advanced distilleries, supported by a nationwide distribution network and a growing presence in international markets. Its future development is focused on expanding exports, introducing new products and promoting Sri Lankan ingredients and distilling traditions within the global premium spirits and cocktail market.
