Scalia is an Italian family-owned producer of premium seafood preserves based in Sciacca on the southwestern coast of Sicily, specializing in anchovies, sardines, tuna, mackerel, and other Mediterranean seafood products. The company was founded in 1973 by Benedetto Scalia, building on the rich fishing tradition of the region and the abundant local catch from the Mediterranean Sea. Since its establishment, Scalia has remained committed to preserving traditional Sicilian processing methods, with many stages of production still carried out by hand by skilled local workers. Its best-known products include anchovy fillets in extra virgin olive oil, salted anchovies, salted sardines, anchovy paste, and colatura di alici, a traditional Italian fish sauce obtained through the natural maturation of anchovies. The fish is processed immediately after landing to preserve its freshness, texture, and nutritional qualities. Combining artisanal craftsmanship with modern food safety standards, Scalia holds internationally recognized quality certifications and maintains strict quality control throughout production. In addition to its traditional range, the company also offers flavored anchovy fillets, tuna, mackerel, and other specialty seafood products. Today, Scalia exports its products to numerous international markets, where they are valued for their authentic Sicilian origin, premium raw materials, and more than fifty years of expertise in seafood preservation.
