Selamlique Istanbul is a Turkish producer specializing in Turkish coffee, Turkish delight, chocolate and accessories used for preparing and serving coffee. The brand was founded in 2009 by Caroline Koç and Banu Yentür as a separate project developed from the Haremlique company. It began with a blend of flavored Turkish coffee created for visitors to Haremlique home textile stores. After the coffee attracted considerable customer interest it was developed into an independent brand focused on Turkish coffee culture. The name Selamlique derives from the selamlık, the section of a traditional Ottoman residence used for receiving and entertaining guests. The company’s core assortment consists of finely ground coffees produced from 100 percent Arabica beans. In addition to traditional and dark-roasted coffee, the company produces varieties flavored with cardamom, cinnamon, chocolate, mastic and orange as well as decaffeinated coffee. The spices and flavorings reflect ingredients found in different regional coffee traditions. Selamlique products have been available at the London department store Harrods since 2010, after which distribution expanded to other international markets.
