Qatad Honey is a natural crystallized honey produced by Sharbah Shifa Apiaries, made predominantly from the nectar of qatad blossoms, a wild thorny plant belonging to the acacia group that grows across the Arabian Peninsula. The plant is also locally known as katad, shaddad, and shuwayt. It thrives in rocky and sandy soils, including areas near the coast, and typically produces white blossoms between March and May.
The honey is produced without sugar feeding of the bees. The producer notes that it is not necessarily entirely monofloral, as it may contain nectar from other plants flowering during the same period. It is naturally prone to crystallization and is therefore sold in a thick, crystallized form. Crystallization is a natural change in the honey’s structure and does not adversely affect its quality.
Sharbah Shifa Qatad Honey ranges from yellow to light amber in color and has a thick texture and pronounced aroma. Its pleasantly sweet, fruity flavor makes it one of the producer’s most appealing acacia honeys. It can be enjoyed on its own, spread on bread and pastries, or served with yogurt, cheese, and desserts.
